Black Bear..
Not much more can be said about New Brunswick Black Bear that has not been said before! They are plentiful - and BIG - it is not uncommon to
get one 400-500 lbs.! Hunting Black bears at Sunset Shan-Gri-La Lodge is one of the most exciting things that could ever happen to you! Our Lodge is ideally situated with 25 bear baits in Deep Virgin Forest, only 20 -30 minutes from the Lodge. Our guides are wise in the ways of the forest and success rates are high - averaging 98% - so you should be able to have that bear skin rug that you have always wanted!

New Brunswick is well known for it's ability to
provide a bountiful harvest of the White Tail Deer!
In our immediate area, we have an excellent herd of
White Tail Deer. Bucks with 8-16 pts weigh 200-300
lbs. The record for New Brunswick is 308 lbs. (The largest
Whitetail shot at Shan-Gri-La was 302 Lbs.)
Hunting is done with Rifle, Bow, or Muzzle Loader.
There is a special "bow only" season for Bow Hunters!
We also have an excellent herd of Moose for those
lucky in the "Moose Lottery"! If you do draw a Moose license, give us a call!

Woodcock, Grouse & Duck..
New Brunswick is located directly in the path of the
annual Woodcock migration! Our Lodge is located in
the middle of New Brunswick! For Woodcock hunters,
this is paradise! There is also excellent hunting for
the speedy Grouse and an ample supply of waterfowl.
Duck hunters will find Teal, Black Duck, Wood Duck,
Golden-Eyes, Ringnecks, Scaup and other species
against which to test their hunting skills. We don't
provide dogs but if you bring one, we do have a kennel.

- Woodcock season is October 2nd - November 30th.
- Grouse season is October 2nd - November 30th.
- Black Bear Spring April 16th - June 30th
- Black Bear Fall (Archery only) Sept 10th - 22nd
(rifle or bow) - October 1 - November 3d
- Deer (archery) - October 1st - October 17th
- Deer (rifle) - October 22nd - November 17th
- Moose (Lottery Draw) - September 27th, 28th & 29th,

- Bear hunts - 5 days - $1,500 - also includes fishing
- Deer hunts - 5 days - $1,500 - also includes fishing
- Combo hunts - 5 days - $1.800 - includes Bear & Deer & Small Game
- Moose hunts - 3 days - $2,000 - Licenses by draw only.

Non-resident bear hunting licenses are $148 (Cdn$)
Non-resident white tail deer hunting licenses are $163 (Cdn$)
Small game & Bird Licenses are $75 (Cdn$).

All hunters bringing a firearm into Canada must possess a "Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Sheet"
filled out and ready to sign in front of custom officers upon entry into Canada. These forms can be attained online at the Canadian Firearms Centre or by calling 1-800-731-4000 in Canada and the USA and 1-506-624-5380 from outside Canada and the USA.
Any US citizens with a DUI must apply to the Canadian Council nearest his home for a Minister's Permit or Approval of Rehabilition. If the Permit or Approval is given, the supporting documents must be presented at the Canadian Customs border crossing in order for the individual to be to be granted access. Since this application process can take several weeks before the results arrive, it is recommended that applicants send in their applications well in advance to their trip.
