Our Lodge is located in a wooded area on the banks of the Miramichi River. We have a 1 Mile view in each direction of this magnificent river, with breathtaking Sunsets to the West. Thus our lodge was named... 'Sunset' Shan-Gri-La. We offer Atlantic Salmon Fishing in Private & Public pools and Trout fishing is also available as we have a grand run of Sea-Trout that penetrate our river system, usually in the last week of May or the first week of June, depending on the weather. Most of the older local people say the Trout fishing is the best when the leaves on the Birch trees are as big as a mouses ear.

Black Bear are very plentiful, and it is not uncommon to get one in the 400-500 lbs. range. We have an excellent herd of White-tailed Deer, some bucks having 8-16 points weighing 200-300 lbs. The record for New Brunswick is 308 lbs. and Shan-Gri-La Lodge's own record for bucks is 302 Lbs., so your chances for a Boone & Crocket trophy deer are excellent. Hunting is done with Rifle, Bow or Muzzleloader. Our hunting success is 98%. Grouse, woodcock & Duck hunting is also available.
